MMORPG: Crowd Control

Chapter 72 Night Shift

Walking for another few minutes or so after leaving the train station, Lei Zhen finally arrived at the Magnolia Convenience Store at Saint Mars Avenue.

The moment the electronic sliding door opened, Lei Zhen was caught off-guard by his fellow coworker, Tie Longkun.

"Lei Zhen, you are finally here at last." Tie Longkun\'s eyes were watery as he tried to hug Lei Zhen.

Luckily though, Lei Zhen managed to dodge to the side to avoid physical contact.

Tie Longkun didn\'t expect him to dodge and nearly bang himself in the head at the wall.

He held an aggrieved expression as he cursed, "If you hadn\'t come sooner, then I might really commit seppuku."

Lei Zhen remained expressionless as he pointed at the clock that was above the counter desk. "I\'m on time and not late at all. What are you blabbering about?"

Turning his head around, Tie Longkun rubbed his eyes a few times to check the time. Sure enough, Lei Zhen was right on time, not late and not early.

"Ugh, that\'s not the point." Tie Longkun said frustratingly.

"The point is Magnolia is currently exploding about the news ongoing at Yors Castle. My character is so far from it, and I need a lot of time to travel there. I would definitely miss out on this big event."

pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ "That sounds a lot like a "you" problem." Lei Zhen said heartlessly.

Before letting Tie Longkun have a chance to argue further, Lei Zhen walked inside the employee lounge to change into his work uniform.

His action severely dumbfounded Tie Longkun.

"Why wouldn\'t you even let me rant?" Tie Longkun felt like crying aloud for such a heartless coworker. He was understanding in their first meeting because he thought Lei Zhen was in a rush to go play Magnolia.

However, he couldn\'t be any more mistaken now.

Feeling depressed, Tie Longkun went to change into his normal clothes after Lei Zhen had come out.

"I\'ll leave the night shift to you," He said depressingly, leaving the store as he mauled over the fact that he would miss the big event.

Tie Longkun\'s depressing exit did not affect Lei Zhen whatsoever. His mind was more focused on how to deal with the other players that are getting involved in the war.

The development of the story was simply too fast, almost as if it was being spiraled out of control by a mysterious hand.

Of all the times it could have happened, the timing just so happened to occur when he was on his way to complete the Hidden Quest.

\'At this rate, I\'m going to get caught, especially when my in-game name is my real-life name.\' Lei Zhen exclaimed inwardly.

It was a good thing he made sure to remain anonymous in his achievement so that his name won\'t appear in any ranking leaderboard. Otherwise, people could have easily investigated who he was with the current technology.

Sometime later, Lei Zhen began putting out some new items on the shelves and getting rid of near-expiration date items.

Afterward, he checked on the delivery list and realized an item.

"Oh? Our convenience store is going to sell B grade Nutrient Solution now?" Lei Zhen was a bit surprised.

Nutrient Solution is considered mankind\'s greatest consumption and it was extremely difficult to get a license to sell them.

Although numerous companies had gotten their hands on the production of Nutrient Solution, the success rate was barely at the 30% level.

Hence, importing and exporting them is a pain as it requires a ton of attention to detail. One mishap could cost the company millions of dollars.

"Delivery time for this is around 11PM at night, so there\'s about another hour." He muttered, walking back to the counter because there were some customers entering.

The night shift was extremely bland and boring. The customers barely even talk to him even though he was greeting them.

People are weird, while being online, they are like a ferocious dog that would bite anyone. However, when it comes to real life, most become timid and are almost afraid to even interact with others.

Lei Zhen already lost count of how many customers came in and left.

Occasionally, there would be zero customers so he would be on his cell phone, searching for information regarding Princess Kate Norton.

Time slowly passed by, and there was no such incident of Liu Lingxin happening again.

"Sigh, no more people to scam for my medical services." Lei Zhen sighed softly. He finally realized what kind of pain Tie Longkun meant when one is poor and is unable to game whenever they want.

He might be inactive, but the things happening in Magnolia were still ongoing.

\'Wait a minute… is this what they called gamer addict?\' Lei Zhen\'s body shook for a second in realization.

There had been a surge of unwillingness ever since he logged out of Magnolia. It was a type of feeling he had never gotten in the past.

However, everything makes sense now that he thought about it.

He was addicted to Magnolia.

"I can\'t believe I am also trapped in this kind of poison." He muttered in disbelief. He never understood why people are addicted to games until now.

Time slowly passed by, and the delivery truck that landed from the sky had arrived.

This was a futuristic world in the year 2089, so it doesn\'t come as a surprise that the delivery truck is a flying type. The delivery truck landed and the package was slowly dropped by the doorstep.

After that, it had some nitro boosting and with a "whooshing" sound, the delivery truck flew away.

Stretching his body, Lei Zhen went toward the entrance and carried the package inside. The package alone was worth at least half a million so he needed to be careful.

Carrying the package inside the employee lounge, Lei Zhen carefully opened the package, and the content was filled with B grade Nutrient Solutions.

\'If it weren\'t for my integrity, I would have really wanted to snatch one for myself.\' Lei Zhen cursed silently, returning to his counter desk and resuming his night shift hour.
